Burgundy is as well known for its excellent wine and the region is a food-lover's paradise. The Romans who in fact originally introduced grape-growing in this area, knew this only too well!

In the surrounding mediaeval towns like Saulieu, Autun, Semur-en-Auxois or Beaune, you will come across some lovely little shops selling top quality wine, beautiful locally-made crafts as well as antiques.

In the old town of Dijon you will find amazing places and uncountable shops. Next to the Residence of the Dukes of Burgundy you find one of the oldest museums of Europe "Musée des Beaux Art"

The town of Auxerre, crossed by the River Yonne, is well worth a visit and while you're there you can admire Saint Etienne Cathedral built over man years in successive stages and that dates back as far as 1215. It is a beautiful example of a gothic work of art and the pride of Burgundy.
